We won the Automation App Award 2023 with the ctrlX AUTOMATION – IDE App.

What is IDE?

IDE stands for Integrated Development Environment. The IDE App offers various development environments (coding, debugging, etc.) that can be used to create program executions for ctrlX OS.

The IDE App is currently available in two versions:

Text-based Coding – Browser-based IDE

Provides a web-based development environment (code editor, console, debugging, etc.) with a native connection to ctrlX CORE. It allows for creating Python scripts or editing files within the active solution.

The IDE App runs directly on the control hardware and is operated via a web browser. A separate development environment on an engineering PC is not required.

The ctrlX IDE Textual Code license enables the use of Text-based Coding.

Visual Coding (add-on) - Block Representation

Provides a programming platform (code editor, debugger, project management, configuration, etc.) with which programs can be created based on visual elements, Python, and JavaScript. The active editor language can be changed at any time to enable collaborative work.

The advantage of Visual Coding corresponds to the central advantage of Low Code: the fast and agile development of programs.

• No manual code entry required
• No need to deal with syntax or programming languages
• Intuitive use of predefined program blocks for variable processing, program loops, control commands, or motion instructions

The program is gradually built by dragging & dropping the blocks and parametrizing them. The actual programming code in Python or JavaScript is automatically generated in the background.

The ctrlX IDE Visual Code Add-on license enables the use of Visual Coding. The IDE Textual Code license is required.
